The Old University community has a wide range of architectural styles including 100 yr old homes, 1940’s bungalows, and 1 ½ stories, 1950’s brick, ranch bungalows and large 2 storeys, and a handful of high-end newer homes on in-fill lots. Large mature lots and its proximity to Downtown, the University Campus and the South end make this neighbourhood popular and pricey. Many of these homes require extensive renovations to their original systems and aesthetics. Many homeowners in this neighbourhood have a basement apartment rented to a University student for additional income, but renting an entire house to students in this neighbourhood is generally frowned upon.
